Up To Now few weeks the swimming world has been hit Via many surprises: from world file holders missing the Olympic Workforce to the amount of new faces that now grace the Olympic roster. One new face, though No Longer new to the highlight, is that of Kelsi Worrell.

Worrell, lately graduated from the College of Louisville, had one of the crucial exciting seasons of any athlete to head via Louisville. 2016 was once indisputably her time to shine, and there are many the reason why. Beneath are only a few…

1. She won One Hundred butterfly the at the united states Trials.

Worrell swam an exhilarating race in Omaha, bringing house her final 50 in beneath 30 seconds to touch out Dana Vollmer for gold. This earned her an Olympic berth and set her up well for the ultimate in Rio, the place she will race defending Olympic champion, Vollmer, again and world file-holder in the experience, Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden.

2. She holds the quickest time of any American in the 100 meter butterfly.

Worrell has left slightly the legacy at her alma mater. She has blazed a trail of college and conference information throughout her time as a Cardinal. Now Not most effective is she the primary American swimmer to qualify for the Olympics, she also is just the 1/3 Cardinal ever.

4. She is the firstborn of six siblings.

A Lot Of Worrell’s youthful siblings have followed her moist footprints into the pool. Her sister, Taylor, swims on the College of South Carolina and also competed in the 2016 Olympic Trials. Worrell enjoys knitting, baking, and scuba diving— all good activities to share with the domestic!

5. She is the first woman to move beneath 50 seconds in the One Hundred yard butterfly.

Worrell smashed the NCAA and American file document within the 100 butterfly (Forty Nine.43) at 2016 NCAAs. This used to be Worrell’s fourth person NCAA title. She received each the A Hundred and 200 butterfly at 2015 and 2016 NCAAs.

6. She and Team U.S.A. won gold in the Four×One Hundred medley relay at the 2015 Pan American Games with a time that might have won 2015 World Championships.

Technically, this “first” used to be in 2015, but nonetheless price noting. The Staff of Natalie Coughlin, Katie Meili, Kelsi Worrell and Allison Schmitt scorched to victory in a Pan-Am Video Games record of three:56.Fifty Three remaining summer time.
