As fuel crisis grips Nepal, solar industry eyes growth

KATHMANDU – After enduring unending blackouts in Nepal’s months-lengthy and ongoing nationwide gasoline concern, management consultant Pankaj Shrestha ultimately splurged on a collection of sun panels for his dwelling in Kathmandu.

“First there used to be no cooking gasoline to be had, so we sold an electric cooker. However then there used to be no electricity, so how may we cook dinner anything?” the 52-yr-previous asked.

With energy outages lasting up to 15 hours a day and the fee of diesel used to power turbines hovering, the Himalayan nation’s sun industry is eyeing a boom in sales.
