Ghannouchi and Essebsi saved Tunisia from chaos, says prominent Arab scholar


Khair El-Din Haseeb Arab scholar Khair El-Din Haseeb wired the importance of the function played by using Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi and the top of Ennahda motion Rachid Ghannouchi in contributing to the success of the “democratic transition” course of in

Throughout a seminar held in the Tunisian capital on Tuesday, the previous head of the Arab National Congress mentioned that Tunisia has succeeded in its “democratic transition” segment “thanks to the efforts and the great position that Essebsi and Ghannouchi
played”.

Ennahda: Democratic conservatives, not Islamists

“Tunisia can play an enormous role in activating the Maghreb union and in resolving pending issues between Algeria and Morocco, and it’s the glimmer of light for Arab revolutions on account of the strides it has made in democratic transition,” he
introduced.

Haseeb also spoke about the possibility of building a new bloc in the Arab area in response to democracy where “ideological sensitivities” can be overcome.

Contributors of this type of new alliance, he brought, would unite on how the Arab area can get rid of dictatorships.

“The difficulty is going thru a ancient segment and it desires a ancient bloc,” the Iraqi thinker said.

Haseeb also referred to that “speak should continue with Islamists who imagine in democracy”.

Haseeb, who holds the place of general director of the Centre for Arab Unity Research in Beirut, based the Arab Nationwide Congress in 1990.
