Kurdistan’s PUK ends alliance with KDP party

Massoud BarzaniThe Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) headed via Jalal Talabani, a former Iraqi president, ended on Tuesday a strategic alliance fashioned in 2007 with the Kurdistan Democratic Birthday Celebration (KDP) led by using Kurdish President Massoud Barzani.

The statement brought up that the political and financial trouble in Kurdistan and regional traits have forced the Party to take this choice.

“We must share governance to resolve Kurdistan’s political and economic trouble and elevate the effectiveness of the combat against the Islamic State,” it delivered.

The Birthday Celebration mentioned in its statement that the presidency should be given to the Birthday Celebration “which receives the perfect votes in democratic and civilian elections” and the prime minister’s post must “go to the Celebration that comes 2nd”,
and “the parliament speaker’s publish to the 1/3 Celebration”, adding that the remainder positions be allotted to the other events.

PUK and KDP signed a strategic agreement in 2007 for the joint administration of the government and different managerial positions within the region.
