‘Breastfeeding Welcome’ restaurant signs spark national debate

A motion in Georgia to forestall the stigma in opposition to moms breastfeeding in public is drawing improve, instigating backlash and sparking a heated debate across the usa.

Sophie Mumper, a senior at Decatur High has been posting “Breastfeeding Welcome” signs at Eating Places across the city of Decatur, Ga. for her senior challenge. She instructed FOX 5 that she has approached dozens of Eating Places and so far ten have agreed to strengthen her mission aimed toward destigmatizing public breastfeeding.

“There Isn’t A need to feel disgrace,” Mumper advised FOX. She obtained the signs from the Georgia Breastfeeding Coalition, an advocacy staff for mothers across the state, to offer to native establishments. 

Restaurants that have agreed to participate say they need all customers to feel welcome and want mothers with infants to grasp they may be able to convey their children—and feed them—with out being judged with the aid of shoppers or group of workers.
