Two neighbours who shone a laser pen into the cockpit of a police helicopter right through a seek for a missing particular person were jailed.

Martin Jayes and Oktawain Plaskiewicz took turns to shine the light on the helicopter because it circled over Leicester, inflicting the hunt to be halted.

Jayes, 46, who used to be drunk on the time, was once jailed for eight months.

Plaskiewicz, 22, used to be jailed for six months.

Judge Adrienne Lucking QC told the lads that such Moves lead to “very grave dangers”.

She mentioned: “Movements with a laser like this result in life-threatening danger to the pilot and contributors of the general public on the ground.”

The helicopter used to be circling over Western Park when both men, of Bateman Street, New Parks, targeted it at about 23:00 GMT on 9 March.

They have been arrested and pleaded guilty to recklessly or negligently endangering the safety of an plane and people traveling within it.

Leicester Crown Court heard that Jayes, a father-of-six, had Seventy One previous felony offences on his document.

Philip Gibbs, mitigating for Plaskiewicz, mentioned his consumer worked 60-70 hours every week to offer for his partner, her nine-year-previous son and a two-week-previous child.

He stated: “He’s mortified by means of what he has finished and the possible consequences for others.”
