South Africa: Department Monitors Situation At Beitbridge Port of Entry

Pretoria — The Division of Home Affairs says it continues to observe the situation on the Beitbridge Port of Entry following disruptions on Friday.

“Following the resolution of the standoff between South African merchants within the Musina area and Zimbabweans getting into South Africa, we can verify that the Port of Entry is operational as of late and no incidences had been suggested,” the Division stated in a observation on Saturday.

Working in conjunction with the South African Police Provider and the South African Income Provider, the Division stated they will observe developments intently to ensure ease of travel at the port of entry.

“To this finish, we are looking to ascertain that the violent acts which were portrayed on social media, together with the burning of structures, passed off on the Zimbabwean facet and not alongside the borderline as reported,” the Division said.
